NAPBC Standards and Resources

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) is pleased to announce the revised release of its updated accreditation standards, Optimal Resources for Breast Care (2027 Standards). The standards are available for download. This version was released in August 2026. Optimal Resources for Breast Care (2027 Standards) are effective as of January 1, 2027.   

Optimal Resources for Breast Care (2027 Standards) focuses on the patient care journey from screening and prevention, to diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship, with an emphasis on providing care with multidisciplinary support.

Implementation Date

All NAPBC-accredited programs are required to begin implementing the accreditation requirements outlined in Optimal Resources for Breast Care (2027 Standards) no later than January 1, 2027.

Compliance requirements for NAPBC site visits will follow the information provided in the table below. The table references the year of a scheduled or anticipated site visit and the year(s) of compliance data that will be reviewed during that site visit.

Coming Soon! NAPBC Standards Review Course

New for the 2027 Standards, the NAPBC is creating an e-learning course to help programs prepare for compliance. The course is completely voluntary and will be self-paced so that participants can stop and return to the course as they have time. Modules will highlight compliance requirements for each NAPBC standard, answer frequently asked questions, and provide knowledge checks to gauge participants’ understanding. The course will be available in QPort this Fall.

NAPBC Optimal Resources for Breast Care Gap Analysis Tool

To assist your accreditation journey, the NAPBC has developed a tool to help assess your breast program’s readiness to apply for NAPBC accreditation. The 2026 calendar year version is available now. The 2027 version will be available later this year. This resource includes:

  • Standard Requirements – A basic description of the elements and requirements within each standard.
  • Required Documentation – Information on what is needed to demonstrate compliance.
  • Program Status – A space to document your program’s current standard compliance status.
  • Action Plan – A space to document an action plan to address compliance gaps.
  • Resources – Links to available resources that can assist with compliance, including access to templates and an example of the Pre-Review Questionnaire (PRQ).
